Free, to do what? You know riding down the road,we have the freedom to turn right a t the light or turn left. But if I just want to take a cruise through the woods i can't because all I see is no trepassing or no hunting or no fishing. I can't spin my wheels if I do I'm destroying property. If I pull over beside of the road and look at a deer or turkey, I'm hunting out of season. If you pull over beside of the road to talk to someone you could get a ticket for illegal parking. But oh well I'm free.

dobbie! You are full of great questions lately. The founding fathers knew a thing or two about freedom having escaped the tyranny of the monarchy and having experienced the end of the inquisition. Freedom in the classical liberal sense is stated in the declaration of independence: " We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." Every human being is born with these basic rights and it is the basis for the philosophy of liberty. Dobbie you are free to go anywhere on your property that you please and I am also free for you to stay off mine - thus no trespassing signs. This is called respect for other people. You are right if we all respected other people and the animals we hunt and kill (that is out of necessity for food and not just for the fun of killling) there would be no need for rules.

I like shooting deer just for the fun of it. may keep a car from getting wrecked up.By the way I don't need your property.I can get them from the road.

You wont be shooting anything on my property from the road without consequences. I do not think it is legal to discharge a firearm on a public road and shoot into someone's property not to mention that it is dangerous and dumb. Maybe we have a police officer on here that can clarify that. Like I said it is respect for other people and you apparrantly have none. Dobbie - so you kill deer just for the fun of it. And you preach Christianity to us on here? ?? I enjoy deer hunting as well and enjoy the venison but I only hunt on my own property during deer season and I never shoot from the road or over the road. I sure hope you clean and use the animals for food that you enjoy killing.

Why are the words Life, Liberty, and Happiness in capitals? I have heard that by using caps it gives these words a different meaning from what we would expect them to mean. The gov't does this also with ALL govt issued papers, examples being driver's license, birth certificate, and Social security card to name a few. I have also read that a Black's Law Dictionary is needed to understand the terminology used by our gov't and court system. What's the meaning of all this?

Just to remind everyone. you can't believe everything you read. I don't even hunt.I use to and I would harvest one deer and have it processed and that would be all. If I kill it I eat it. If I catch fish.I share them with others. Sorry for ruffling your feathers. And if I wanted to hunt I got plenty of places to go.

Papermoon: I don't know if you were being sarcastic, with your comment regarding capitalization of words..... but in case you really did want to know.... at least in academic writing if a word is capitalized in that way such as the Good, or Liberty, etc. it is because the person is referring to the "idea" of the good or the "idea" of liberty and not a particular good or a particular liberty.

Dobbie.... back at the start of this country when we were a Republic that was true. That's part of why our nation was so great. Sadly tho, we don't OWN anything anymore. A government that takes what is yours by force to redistribute to others is no longer FREE. if anyone still thinks your car or your property is yours.... they are living in la la land. Without 'asking permission & paying a tax" you can't do anything. Wasn't it you who said you would be fined 20 grand if you tried to clean your own pond? Hmmm whose pond is it? Try not paying your taxes on your house or car and see what happens! Lets try an experiment. Name more than 3 things you can do w/o being taxed, fined, regulated or controlled in some way today. Lets see how many we can come up with.

Oh yes, I was totally Serious (lol). But really...look at your gov't issued papers, Driver's license, Birth certificate, etc. They have created an "idea" of who they say we are. A false being, our strawman, if you will. This is the person responsible for debt, the person liable for traffic tickets, the person who pays the taxes. What exactly do you think they mean by the "idea" of Life? I don't understand this capitalization thing. If this is a free country, why do I have to register my property, and get gov't papers that allow me to work for a living, and do all those other things they have deemed "legal". What happened to being a child of God? What happened to being a human being who was put on this earth to function without the use of their papers and forms and fees? America, land of the Free. OBITUARY OF THE LATE MR. COMMON SENSE
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: Knowing when to come in out of the rain. Why the early bird gets the worm. Life isn't always fair. Maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies: Don't spend more than you can earn. And he lived by reliable strategies: adults, not children, are in charge. His health began to deteriorate when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer Tylenol, sun lotion or a Band-aid to a student, but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant. Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband, churches became businesses, and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when it became punishable for you to defend yourself from a burglar in your own home, but the burglar could sue you for assault. He began to lose ground rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Common Sense finally gave up the will to live after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap and was promptly awarded a huge settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his Wife, Discretion; his Daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by his 3 stepbrothers: I-Know-My-Rights, Someone-Else-Is-to-Blame, and I'm-A-Victim.
