OMG it is true! Lol. Jacob Bembry Announces Candidacy For Mayor Of Lee Sept. 24, 2010 "My name is Jacob Bembry and I am a candidate for mayor of Lee. I spent my early childhood years in Lee before moving to Monticello. In 1987, I moved back to Lee and I have been a resident for the past 23 years. One of the greatest honors of my life came in 2006 when I was chosen Lee's Citizen of the Year. A graduate of Jefferson County High School, North Florida Junior College and Florida State University, I have worked for Greene Publishing, Inc. since 1993, with a two-year hiatus from the job where I was a freelance writer and worked as a news director and salesman for WMAF Radio. In 2007, I achieved one of the highest honors bestowed by the Florida Press Association when I was chosen that year's Shining Star. I am born again, thanks to the blood of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As mayor, I will listen to the people, I will be honest and I will do what is right for the community. I believe that honesty and a listening ear are the keys to doing what is right. I want to see people in Lee prosper. I believe that there is room for growth in our town, but the growth has to be handled in a way that will help the town's residents and not hurt them. If I make a mistake as mayor, I will admit my mistake and work to rectify the situation. I know that I will serve the residents of the Town of Lee. Each voice is important. Each voice will be heard. I encourage everyone, who is registered, to vote in the general election. If you are a resident of the Town of Lee, I would appreciate your vote on Nov. 2. Paid political advertisement, paid for and sponsored by Greene Publishing, Inc., approved by Jacob Bembry, non-partisan, for mayor of Lee."

Yes it's a joke, but he is running. Notice that he's currently doing "kiss-up" articles about Lee, ending them all with the word God, Jesus, Lord or savior to try to justify the babblings.

Well, I haven't been on here in a while but when I heard (over the laughter) that Jacob was running for Mayor I just had to come see if it was true. Now that it is confirmed... instead of laughing, I'm truly concerned for the people of Lee. When I think of Jacob I think of things like: hypocrite, racist, stalker of women, misguided, a hot bath, suspect gene pool, biased, heavily influenced by the old regime of "Madison good ole boys". This man has distorted views and follows them up usually by disseminating how much of a "Christian" he is. Oh, and that his "best friend" is black. Give me a break! I've seen him do and say things that made my skin crawl. I truly hope for the sake of Lee and for Madison County that this individual stays right where he is at. At the one and only place his ideas are relished.

Wow. That is all I can really say. Is anyone else seeking the office or will he be Mayor by default because no one else is running? When I think of a mayor, I think nicely dressed, well-groomed, well spoken, not sloppily dressed with a gut hanging out below the shirt, greasy, unkept hair, and complete lack of personal hygiene. I just think that if I were going to run for Mayor, I would be trying my hardest to look nice and put together. As for the hypocrytical nature of this man (mentioned in an earlier comment) I myself have seen it and heard it. Every man has issues and vices and I know he has his but he needs to clean up his appearance and reputation before running for anything!

tangerine: If you'll add the words "Lord, Jesus and Savior" to your post, this could be his campaign speech.

My guess is that Madison Voice's comment sections have sort of taken the place of these forums although this topic never made it there. I guess Jacob won't be running an ad on the Voice. Imagine if he did!

You're right papredoll, I doubt he will run an ad with the Voice. Puppets don't generally turn on their Masters. ;D

Shouldn't he first run for Mayor of Macedonia? You know, to get some experience.

I don't know him personally but I've seen him (unfortunately) in the supermarket and I read that Jacob's Ladder "column" (if that's what he wants to call it) whenever I need a good chuckle. Cowsrulenlovett & Tangerine I can't stop laughing at your reactions.

I think one of the cats from the Caboodle Ranch should run against him. I bet Bootsie would win.
