Why doesn't the Beggs Funeral Home in Madison give all the obituaries to Madison Florida Voice for immediate publishing so that we can pay our respects to the deceased before they are buried. So very often the funeral has already happened when the obituary appears in the GP paper.
It is not a matter of cost because all obituaries on Madison Florida Voice are already paid for by Elmer's Genealogy Libray.
Our friends that die in Madison deserve better than they are getting from the Beggs Funeral Home in my opinion.
Maybe GP has the monopoly on this information and there is certainly a charge for obituaries in their newspaper.
Maybe Beggs Funeral Home can explain this to us.

The Voice himself wrote an editorial about this problem. I think it's because Tommy Greene is buddies with the Beggs family and like anything else the Voice does, the Greenes either try to copy him or stop him. I think the Beggs and the Greenes are interchangeable parts. It's the "Good ole boys" system.
I would love to see another funeral home open in Madison. I would also like to see MFV make GP become obsolete...or should I say, "Go out of business". They're already obsolete in my eyes.

Well maybe this is something else we need to go to Valdosta for. Actually I have a cemetery plot in Valdosta. Beggs will get nothing from me when I die.
Maybe we should pickett Beggs.. WE WANT OBITUARIES.
Who governs funeral homes - does anyone know - maybe we can complain.

Obviously the Beggs are getting a kickback from the Greenes. Why else would they refuse to print the obituaries ON TIME FOR FREE. We moved here a few years ago and have no contact to this community - madisonnative - we will go tomorrow and make our arrangements in Valdosta for buriual. What a great idea. There is a wonderful looking cemetery on the nortrh side that we drive by all of the time. We will investigate being buried in that cemetery. Again, great idea.

Most funeral homes today have their own website where they post obituaries and allow condolences to be posted. If Beggs had one, they wouldn't need the newspaper or MFV.
That's how the community could be best served.
