I am confused Emmettswords.
Two posts ago you wanted to know what the criteria is for joining the new Chamber now your previous post says there is no new Chamber.
If they are such scuz bags why would you want to join them?
I think there is room for two Chambers in Madison. The old one seems to concentrate on tourism and bringing tourists to Madison County.
Seems like the local merchants have formed the new one because they need help in order to survive. Seems like they are trying to help themselves and not be a burden on tax dollars.

Maybe we need a biochemiphysioanlyisarianectorologist to figure this all out. Also almost all the people involved in the new Chamber are members of the old Chamber. I would think a response to Emmettswords from the old Chamber in defense of it's members would be in order here.

to emmettswords jeez where do you start Late last week you posted "What is the criteria for being allowed to join this new chamber?" Now today you posted "There is no "new" chamber. This is just a bunch of people that want to slander and be mean to others." YOU CAN’T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS. The part where you say "This is just a bunch of people that want to slander and be mean to others" is, in my opinion, not a very nice way to treat your Madison County neighbors. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT YOU HAVE A LOT OF BITTERNESS IN YOUR HEART. MAYBE YOU NEED TO GO TO CHURCH OR SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP WITH YOUR PROBLEM.
I still belong to the group (two memberships) on Horry Street and will until my dues expire. Then never again. In the two organizational meetings that have been held I believe that almost everyone there will never join the group on Horry again.
There are a lot of reasons that folks are dissatisfied with them. Some of those reasons are 1) they do not have by-laws to give to their members, 2) persons sitting on their board are handpicked by TE and not elected by the membership, 3) their members have been barred from attending chamber meetings that have been posted on their website – PHYSICALLY BARRED AND THEN LOCKED OUT OF THE BUILDING, 4) their books have not been audited for years. I believe that there were about 10 other unique concerns – MOSTLY THE GROUP ON HORRY IS INTO BIG GRANDIOUS SCHEMES that last for two or three hours and then the streets in all of our towns are empty until their next extravaganza. These events are good for Madison County but someone has to be concerned about all of the empty buildings in Madison County, all of the companies just averting bankruptcy and all of THE failed businesses. It seems to me that so far the new group is off and running in the right direction. I guess the best thing to tell those that are wanting updates to just keep watching The Voice. Elmer Spear

I really wanted to know the criteria to join the new chamber. Never got an answer and figured that I would with that posting. Thanks for the input above. I don't understand the anger and the personal attacks though. Can you please explain to me how anything is ever going to get better when there just seems the disapportionate amount of sheer hate that this subject seems to envoke. Is this how we gentleman want to conduct ourselves?

There just seems to be so much hate that nothing contructive could possibly come of it. Can one not disagree with anyone without being the subject of an attack? A true simple plain old disagreement. Nothing earth shattering. Is it really safe to have an adverse opinion from the 6-7 people that are regular posters on this website. Or will that be a death sentence? Also please if I may ask , what is the little notes on the side here with karma -3 and -$11? Do I owe someone money? And I promise my karma is excellent. I'm pretty happy in general and really hate to see the community so divied and unhappy.

And I would never have ever said and did not say that one is a scuz bag.

The reason that I believe your original post was ignored was just like this time as soon as someone posts you jump on them - this time with three posts at 420pm, 428pm and 434pm - you must have really been busting a gut.
Yes papredoll - we in the know know who emmettswords is and maybe someday she will start to use her own name like I do. You see I have nothing to hide. Elmer C. Spear

Well let's hope that both Chambers are beneficial to Madison County businesses and let's hope they both keep their eyes on the goal of helping Madison County.
We have businesses on Range Avenue that do not know if they will be able to pay next months rent as times are tough and they have nowhere to turn for a bailout. If they fail then they are done. Range Avenue is fast becoming a ghost town and hopefully that can be turned around. It will be slow going but let's hope it can be done.
Collectively maybe we can come up with some ideas that will help.
Any ideas that anyone would like to share would be greatly appreciated and would be a benefit to both Chambers.
It is not about who wins these petty battles but about Madison winning the war.
Wadda ya think biochemiphysioanlyisarianectorologist?

Ideas that help:
1. Let’s promote a ‘Buy Local’ attitude.
2. Let’s not bicker about the ’he said she said’ issues.
3. Let’s help out one another in a brotherly fashion (kind’a do unto others…)
4. Let’s try to come up with solutions, not road blocks.
5. Let’s work together, not divide and conquer (Duplicate but worth repeating).
6. Let’s not hold grudges because we don’t get our way.
7. Let’s all be civil.
Just a few thoughts, from a local business owner and chamber member.
