PRESS RELEASE from MadisonVoice.comOn Friday October 23, 2009, the “ [glow=red,2,300]Madison County Florida Chamber of Commerce, Inc.[/glow]” was created. It was incorporated, in response to growing dissatisfaction with the “Greater Madison County Florida Chamber of Commerce, Inc.” a.k.a the “Greater Madison County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism!”, by a group of local business owners. These owners intend to provide a more democratic chamber for local businesses in order to enhance, serve, build and improve the local Madison County communities. This will be accomplished with projects and events that will help local businesses and in turn encourage them to help the local communities. In the coming weeks we will release more information as it becomes available. We aim to improve Madison County with democratic cooperation of all local businesses that want to join and contribute. Sincerely the “[glow=red,2,300]Madison County Florida Chamber of Commerce, Inc[/glow].”

Please, please, please, do this the right way. Keep government out of your business. Never give them a chance to fleece business owners or taxpayers via "special" deals and promotions. The only thing government can and should do for you, is get out of your way, protect your property, and provide you an opportunity for civil action in case you are wronged.

Mike unfortunately I think that will be hard considering you have to get gov. licenses and abide by the statutes they have in place. Now if your talking about letting gov. ramrod businesses, I agree with you and hope the new chamber accomplishes this

A properly run Chamber doesn't need government bailouts. If it does than the people running it probably shouldn't be - plain and simple.
I hope for the best with this new Chamber of Commerce. Madison hasn't seen a corrupt free Chamber since the early 80s.

I work nights. (Night shift) Thanks for the information. Uh huh. This new Chamber will be just what Madison needs. Not just the small business owners but the economy. We can't grow if we are stifled by the few (The 5). As a biochemiphysioanlyisarianectorologist, I see this every day.

Well, I can say for certain that the chamber was without corruption for a couple of years. I think it's a great idea to keep government out of the Chamber business, but the local businesses need to step forward and support their Chamber both financially and with their time and expertise for it to be successful. Hopefully this will occur with the new Chamber; however, it could just as easily have been done with the existing Chamber.

There is no "new" chamber. This is just a bunch of people that want to slander and be mean to others
