To: Jim Catron , city commissioner & Justin Hamrick , county commissioner & TDC board member . What has not been explained since this chamber went broke financially last summer is the FACT that neither the city or county for their business dealings (promoting the city or county ) or bailouts (county) has demanded an audit by a CPA with public release before any more TAX MONEY was paid or given to this chamber . WHY NOT ? I always thought non profits had a yearly audit of their financial records . From what I have heard this chamber has not had an audit in 4,5,6 or more years . If the thing is broke , why would gov't. give more money until an audit is done & released for public inspection ? Jim & Justin , how about an answer to this question as it relates to your area of responsibility . This entire episode smacks of underhanded activity between this chamber & gov't. . A complete audit by a CPA would clear this up . NO MORE TAX MONEY UNTIL AN AUDIT IS DONE .

I agree that an audit would be in order. Even an elementary review of the books and/or bank records would show that the Chamber simply wasn't bring in enough money to cover the basic expenses. This is due to low membership and to members not paying their dues.
