Good Morning: I know there is a major story on the horizon of the national scene pertaining to Coach Bobby Bowden’s status. However, there is also a major sport story on the local sports scene pertaining to Head Football Coach Frankie Carroll of the Madison Cowboys. Coach Carroll was dismissed as Head Football Coach of the Madison County Cowboys last week by the Madison County District Schools Board! The vote for his dismissal was 5 – 0.
According to several reliable sources, the Madison County District School Board and Madison County High School Athletic Director have kept his dismissal very quiet due to the backlash expected from this “behind the scene” political maneuver. Coach Carroll has been on the “hot seat” with the district school board and the current Athletic Director since the end of the 2008 football season. His relationship with them worsened during the past summer with someone planting rumors: a) Coach Carroll was interviewing for the position of Head Football Coach at Taylor County High School, b) followed by rumor of him having a serious medical problem. (All of these rumors were proven false and planted by someone)
