Will this high speed rail that is going to be constucted through Fl. be beneficial to us here in the Madison county area? How many jobs will it create for us?

It has the potential of re-activating Madison's train stop. If you look at the rail corridor plans, there is a proposed route that cuts across Jacksonville-Tallahassee-Pensacola. However, I don't know how or who determines whether the proposed route becomes a real one. That is definitely something to look into. Rail corridor plans can be found at: www.floridahighspeedrail.org/Rail_Corridors.html

I"d likem to see the amtrack resume through Madison. Why, would you use it? It would do nothing but cost tax payers money by adding the additional stop. Would it bring any value to Madison, I think not? I wish they would shut down the state fundind rail system and make the railroads to operate within a budget that i did not have to support.

magnus... i haven't heard about this.... WTF?
Who the heck uses the rail system? That's why the railroad is dying a slow, painful death, it can't sustain itself... it has too much competition! So now the state wants to bail out the railroad?

So now the state wants to bail out the railroad? Amtrack, as most railroads are subsidized by the feds. If they were to add a stop in Madison, actually reroute the passenger train, it would be an additional cost for the stop. The Amtrack route was pulled some years ago, because of funding and lack of use. I believe Jim Catron is active in trying to get it back, but I see it as just another burden on us as tax payers. Just my $0.02. Mag

It makes it sound less personal somehow to say the FEDS are funding it. Since we the tax payers fund the fed & Bernanke runs the presses night & day to create additional units of debt, either way, we along with our children and grandchildren get the bill. I agree, another burden on the tax payers.
