My opinion:
This colorful junk mail that I've received twice in the past few months from Madison Media Group, which I see has added the word "Partners" to the end of it, is a waste of taxpayer's dollars.
According to a County Commissioner, Michael Curtis heads up this non-profit group and received a grant to produce this seemingly pointless mailbox stuffer.
Exactly what was the motivation behind this? It doesn't give any information that you can't find in the phone book. It doesn't really say anything. I'll tell you what I think; I think he believes that it will "buy" him trust and credibility in Madison.
First of all, a person can't buy respect and SURE can't manipulate the masses into believing that they are an honest person. A person may fool a few people but for the most part, people can see someone for who they really are. Plagiarism speaks LOUD! Copying other peoples' work and claiming ownership says only one thing...Phony. It shows that a person doesn't feel like they are accepted or good enough so they steal from someone else to make their self to look good.
I think this junk mail is another case of "trying to look good". The problem is, it's hollow (lacking...anything) and is a waste of a grant. Our country is in enough trouble without wasting money on something like this.
You can't buy respect. You have to earn it. People can see through painfully obvious fronts.
I heard Mike Curtis say in a video on The Voice, I believe it was at a City Commissioner's meeting, " a journalist having written over 1200 articles" and something about wondering why he wasn't "embraced" for all of his community service. The 1200 articles has since been nullified and as far as community service CREDIT... your heart has to be in it or you are doing it for all the wrong reasons. Cleaning the Pallbearer's graveyard was a classic example of the right reason. The county didn't want to help so there was no political gain for doing it but, many people showed up and helped anyway, including government officials. I don't think a single person was there to buy respect or credibility.
That sums it all up for me. This colorful flyer in my mailbox is part of the problem with America. If you're not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
I form my own opinions of people by their actions. Don't insult my intelligence by trying to convince me different with pointless bulk mail. I see through it as would any other slightly aware person that bothered to open it.
