I see a lot of finger pointing at the Greenes. But talk about stealing and lieing, why nothing is ever stated about the power companies charging the way they do. The county how they take from citizens. OH who is right who is wrong. Love thy neighbor as thyself, so why all you that posts things about thr Greenes let people know ' ARE YOU PERFECT?

I know this is a crazy way off approacing this but... If almost everyone you know keeps bringing you facts about how a particular tractor keeps messing up, does it make you want to run out and buy it?

The current generation of Greenes that are in charge of the paper don't seem to be interested in their paper being the reliable news source that it was years ago. Maybe they don't really want to be there or maybe they just find themselves on the edge of the technology wave that is sweeping away much of the old media. In any case, there was a time that the Greene family did some good for this community and I don't really believe that they want to do harm now.

Really? Have you paid attention to them during an election?

I have tried to give the Greenes the benefit of the doubt, but I must say I haven't paid much attention to their paper over the past few years. What is it that they do during an election? I pretty much stopped reading their papers when the news was so old that I had already heard about most things in the community before I read about them weeks after they had happend. I also resented that they rarely covered any activities at the schools where my children attended, but focused on the school where their children attended that wasn't even in Madison County. They also rarely covered the Madison High School Band and I thought that was a shame since those kids were high achievers for the most part and they deserved better. Even with all of this, I always figured the folks at the paper were just lazy and not malicous. Of course, I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time and will not be the last.

Elections: The things you said about sports goes hand in hand with elections. They support anyone that THEY want. They wanted Opie Peavy as Sheriff. They did a slander campaign on Rick Davis right before the primary election. They support the good ole boys, thinking they are earning respect I suppose.
Sports: They cover what's important in their lives and try to force their lives on everyone else. It doesn't matter what the people want, it's what they want. Once The Voice started covering MCHS sports, the Greene's suddenly started doing the same thing. They have a team of employees, the voice seems to have himself and Mr. Bullard helps with sports. So, there's no excuse for them not covering school events. One of their reporters seemed to focus on one particular female band member for a little while. That was creepy to me.
They are stubborn and they seem to think they know everything. I think there's no hope for them and as you said, there news was so old (It still is) you lost interest. So did I. I check madisonvoice at least 3 times a day. I guess I'm as up-to-date as it gets in Madison.

As I read your last post, I realized that everything that you said was true. All of it explains why so many people have turned away from their paper and toward the Madison Voice. I enjoy clicking over to the Madison Voice at lunch most days just to see what's new. I've been happy to share their wedsite with friends and family. A number of them have come back to me and said how much they enjoy this online source for local news.
